You could use them to hold other things, but really, they’re designed for eggs.

These playful egg holders are designed using a process call “topology optimization.” Topology optimization is a mathematical design method that optimizes material layout within a given design space, for a given set of loads, boundary conditions and constraints with the goal of maximizing the performance of the system.

These designs were made using nTopology.

The ten models are made unique by randomizing the load points on the egg surface. You can further differentiate multiple prints by slightly scaling them along the z axis to add some variability in height.

Inputs to the topology optimization process used a theoretical 100kg egg placed on a titanium alloy pedestal.

Please note that this page is closing, and designs are not being maintained or updated. There have just been too many problems with Thingiverse (lost files, people not able to download, etc).

I am gradually moving over to Thangs: https://thangs.com/designer/DaveMakesStuff. Most old designs have been migrated, and I will continue to post new designs there. I encourage you to follow and download!
