Create your own automata using this modular base of crank-driven cams. Your own bobbing figures or objects can be added by designing in a 5mm x 5mm hole to accept the cam shaft. Be sure to add an appropriate amount of tolerance.
To make a single module, you will need the print the following files:
Standard Module
Gear and Adapter with Crank
Crank Assembly
Main Shaft Single
Joiners as needed
and one of the the Cams.
To extend the grid along the axis of the main shaft, you will need to print the following files for each additional module:
Standard Module
Two Adapters
Main Shaft (Double or Triple)
Joiners as needed
and one of the the Cams.
If you need to add more than three modules, you can create your own main shaft. The shaft is 5mm x 5mm square, length is increments of 30mm depending on how long you need.
To extend the grid perpendicular to the axis of the main shaft, you will need to print the following files fro each additional module:
Standard Module
Gear and Adapter without Crank
Main Shaft (Select the length you need)
Joiners as needed
and one of the the Cams.
Three cam designs are provided that allow for a total of 16 different orientations of the cam relative to the main shaft. The "Cam Straight" and Cam Eighth" each provide 4 orientations relative to the axle. The "Cam Sixteenth" cam can be flipped to provide a total of 8 positions relative to the axle.
